<p>Breast pain (mastodynia) often occurs in premenopausal and postmenopausal women and is often associated with fears with respect breast cancer. The diagnostics consist of the patient medical history in combination with imaging procedures depending on the age of the patient. The focus should particularly be on the exclusion of breast cancer. The treatment approaches are diverse and depend on the type of mastodynia. As the symptoms can also spontaneously regress, drug treatment should only be considered if the symptoms persist and conservative treatment approaches have been exhausted.</p>
