<p>Frailty is commonly linked to a range of factors, and recent reports have highlighted its connection to the number of teeth. The goal of this study was to systematically review and quantitatively assess the current evidence on the connection between the number of remaining teeth and frailty in older adults. By employing a comprehensive search strategy, we identified relevant publications from the past 15&#xa0;years in the following three electronic databases: PubMed, CINAHL, and Scopus. We followed the PRISMA-P guideline to a systematic review and meta-analysis. We assessed the quality of the studies using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale and the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation framework. The inclusion criteria were met by eight studies (six cross-sectional and two cohort studies). Older adults with ≤ 20 teeth had a significantly higher risk of frailty than those with &gt; 20 teeth (odds ratio [OR] = 2.57, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.91–3.47). Being edentulous presented higher risk of frailty than being dentate (OR = 1.69 (95% CI 1.32–2.15)). Sensitivity analyses yielded consistent results. According to this meta-analysis and systematic review, tooth loss is considered a potential marker of frailty. Further studies are needed to establish the causality of this relationship.</p>
