摘要

Amid intensifying population aging and the constant emergence of new technologies, understanding the technology acceptance of older adults is crucial for achieving an inclusive technological society. However, comprehensive reviews of this burgeoning and interdisciplinary field are scarce. This study provides the first comprehensive cross-technology review of the whole domain using bibliometric and visualization analysis. A total of 334 documents from the Web of Science core database from 2011 to 2024 were selected to analyze the research status and development trends in this research field. Descriptive statistics were used as the main means for performance analysis to evaluate publishing performance at different levels, while VOSviewer and Citespace were comprehensively applied to scientific mapping for visualization analysis of data, to explore and display the internal connections between information. Our results uncovered the publication trends, distribution, and cooperation status, important literature and key journals, research topics and methods, as well as the research evolution and frontiers in the research field of technology acceptance of older adults. This study not only presents a panoramic framework of this field but also offers critical insights into existing research. Our findings can enhance scholars’ comprehensive understanding of this field, inspire new ideas, illuminate significant research gaps, and guide future research directions, and also be used to instruct practitioners to consider older adults in the universal design of emerging technological products.
