<p>This study explores the determinants of microgrid technology adoption, emphasizing enhanced security through the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework. As microgrids become critical components of decentralized energy systems, the increasing reliance on information and communication technologies introduces substantial cybersecurity risks. To address these concerns, this research integrates key security constructs—Information Security Alignment (ISA) and Perceived Severity of Information Security Threats (PSIST)—into the UTAUT model to investigate their impact on adoption intentions. A quantitative study involving 302 respondents reveals that strong ISA practices and proactive cybersecurity measures positively influence microgrid adoption, while heightened perceptions of security threats deter adoption. Contrary to expectations, leadership commitment to cybersecurity policies does not have a direct effect on adoption intention. These findings provide critical insights for cybersecurity policymakers, technology developers, and IT security professionals by emphasizing the need for robust security frameworks, regulatory compliance, and enhanced risk communication strategies to foster trust and facilitate secure microgrid adoption. By addressing security vulnerabilities at multiple levels, this study contributes to advancing secure and resilient energy systems in the face of evolving cyber threats.</p>
