<p>Cladocera species diversity and abundance give useful insights into the influence of anthropogenic pressure on water quality in both lentic and lotic habitats. There are still information gaps in the study of Cladocera population dynamics and species distribution in various aquatic environments. This study aimed to analyse the Cladoceran species diversity, abundance, richness, and distribution in the River Yamuna. A systematic investigation has been carried out in the River Yamuna of the Mathura region of Uttar Pradesh, India, for one year, i.e., from June 2023 to May 2024. The abiotic variables like DO, CO<sub>2</sub>, pH, conductivity, and temperature were analysed. A total of fifteen Cladoceran species were found during the study period. Statistical analysis was done using PAST statistics software and MS Excel. Shannon diversity index and Simpson diversity index were recorded as the highest during the summer season and lowest during the monsoon season. The Cladoceran diversity is influenced seasonally, and nine species were found in March, April, and May because of favourable water temperature, i.e., 32.5 ± 3.5&#xa0;ºC, more alkaline pH, i.e., 8.1 ± 0.1, and suitable concentrations of CO<sub>2</sub> and dissolved oxygen, i.e., 26 ± 4.1&#xa0;mg L<sup>−1</sup> and 4.9 ± 0.8&#xa0;mg L<sup>−1</sup>, respectively.</p>
