摘要

The construction industry is one of the main sources of carbon emissions in China. As a low-carbon building material, wood flooring has attracted much attention. This study evaluated the carbon footprint of six types of Chinese-made wood flooring, quantified the differences among the products, and analyzed the corresponding reasons. Considering the carbon sequestration property of wood and the long-term use of buildings, the carbon emissions of wood flooring should be regarded as negative carbon emissions, indicating its potential carbon-negative benefits in buildings. This study identified the high-sensitivity parameters of the carbon footprint of different wood flooring and the fluctuation range of the carbon footprint. By reducing the consumption of high-sensitivity raw materials and energy and using clean electricity, the carbon footprint of wood flooring can be reduced by up to 7.3%, and the direct production cost can be reduced by up to 5.9%. Among them, the emission reduction assumption for wood raw materials can maximize the cost-effectiveness of enterprises. This study simulated the carbon emissions of wood flooring at the end of its service life under different scenarios and quantified the impact of increasing the recycling rate on reducing carbon emissions. The research results can provide guidance for emission reduction in wood flooring production, such as technological innovation and giving priority to the use of domestic wood. At the same time, it can promote the formulation of recycling policies, promote the sustainable development of the industry, and further promote the application of low-carbon building materials.
