摘要

Weissella are Gram-positive coccobacilli found in fermented foods and considered to have probiotic potential. However, different species of this bacterial genus may be involved in human infections, particularly in cases of immunodepression. We report a rare case of Weissella confusa endocarditis in a 65-year-old man with myelodysplastic syndrome, combined with a review of other cases described in the literature. As identification to species level was challenging with the standard techniques, we resorted to whole genome sequence analysis.
