Triadische Kommunikation in der Kindernotaufnahme: qualitative Analyse elterlicher Perspektiven auf die Versorgungsrealität
摘要
Triadic communication between medical staff, children and guardians is a central but complex element of paediatric emergency care. Guardians play a key mediating role between children and medical staff. Despite established communication skills, practical implementation in everyday clinical practice is often hampered by a wide variety of factors. The nationwide EDCareKids study (Innovation Fonds of the Federal Joint Committee, FKZ 01VSF23042; 2024–2026) is conducting a comprehensive investigation of paediatric emergency care in Germany. A thesis examined how guardians experience triadic communication in the emergency department in order to identify key challenges and areas for improvement.
Materials and methodsA guided interview study was conducted and evaluated using qualitative content analysis according to Kuckartz and Rädiker. A total of 11 guardians whose children visited the emergency departments of Wolfsburg Hospital or Magdeburg University Hospital in the second and third quarters of 2024 were interviewed by telephone.
ResultsThe analysis highlights a heterogeneous experience of triadic communication with strengths and areas for improvement. Empathy and age-appropriate communication on the part of medical staff were highlighted as positive aspects. Challenges arose due to lack of time and shortcomings in the transfer of information.
ConclusionThe quality of triadic communication is influenced by professional skills, individual factors and structural conditions. Targeted promotion of communication skills as well as continuous training and further education measures are essential to strengthen a patient- and family-oriented communication culture and to contribute to improving quality of care.
