Design und schrittweiser Aufbau eines kostengünstigen Angio-Simulators für das endovaskuläre Training

This paper describes the design and step-by-step construction of a low-cost angio-simulator for endovascular training in both home and in-hospital settings. The simulator is primarily made of acrylic glass (polymethyl methacrylate, PMMA) and operates without specialized simulation software; a smartphone camera and a wireless projector are used for image transmission. The simulator includes a thoracoabdominal aorta segment and an aortic arch with supra-aortic branches and provides both femoral and brachial access, enabling practice of renal, mesenteric and carotid interventions. Total material costs were approximately € 150, and the device was built by one person within 3 days. Initial tests demonstrated reliable target-vessel cannulation and stable handling of catheters and guidewires. Because PMMA can be reshaped when heated, the model can be modified to reproduce selected anatomical variants and simple vascular pathologies. This customizable and cost-effective simulator represents a practical alternative to commercial systems and can broaden access to endovascular training and new techniques in a safe in vitro environment.
