摘要

Despite the increasing number of vascular interventions, there has been a decline in suitable training procedures due to the increasing complexity of the procedures. In the light of the changed professional framework conditions, simulations are therefore becoming increasingly more important in vascular surgery training. Vascular medicine, as a highly technical discipline with multimodal imaging and a broad portfolio of surgical, interventional and hybrid procedures, is ideally suited to the integration of modern digital simulation methods, such as extended reality, apps and smart glasses using artificial intelligence.

This article provides an overview of the digital simulation systems currently available for vascular surgery and the findings obtained in terms of learning success and translation, also in relation to non-digital simulators. The focus here is on work involving validated study protocols and scaled learning outcomes as key features of efficient simulation. Furthermore, previous experiences with artificial intelligence in the context of digital simulation and training for the field of automated recording of technical and psychological learning success are listed. Finally, the current limitations in the field of digital teaching and simulation technologies are addressed and the future importance of digital simulation systems in conjunction with artificial intelligence in vascular surgery training is discussed.
