Indikation und Wirkung der Intermittierenden Pneumatischen Kompressionstherapie (IPK)
摘要
Intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC), also formerly known as apparative intermittent compression (AIC) therapy is used worldwide in decongestion therapy for peripheral edematous diseases, in thrombosis prophylaxis, in the treatment of peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) and also nowadays in sports medicine as single or multistage chamber devices.
In this article the mode of action, benefits, limitations and contraindications are discussed based on the current literature.
The background to this work is the guideline of the German Society for Phlebology, which were created in 2018 in collaboration with the relevant professional societies and have not been revised since that time. In particular, the difficulties of the study situation with sometimes only small case numbers are included which are now expanded to include further findings.
The IPC is a valuable addition to the physical therapy of manual lymphatic drainage and now represents another valuable pillar of complex decongestive therapy (CDT). It could be proven that the range of indications has greatly expanded due to the enormous technical development of the devices and that it is now an integral part of the overall concept of decongestion therapy, outpatient or inpatient, and that there has been a significant change compared to the myths that still exist in some cases regarding existing contraindications.
