摘要

In late 2020 and early 2021, the ISO Technical Management Board (TMB) took the decision to disband ISO/REMCO, the ISO Committee on Reference Materials, and to create a new technical committee (ISO/TC 334—Reference materials) in its place. The main reason for this decision was to facilitate the transformation of the ISO/REMCO Guides, developed for the production and use of reference materials (ISO/REMCO Guides), into other ISO deliverables, mostly international standards. The inaugural meeting of the committee took place on 8 and 9 September 2021, and the resolutions from the first meeting were approved at a subsequent meeting on 16 November 2021. The most important decisions that were taken during this meeting included the approval of the title and scope of work of the committee and the plan of action for the transformation of the ISO/REMCO Guides into ISO standards.

Over the next four years, the committee worked tirelessly to transform ISO Guide 30 into ISO 33400 as the vocabulary for reference materials. ISO Guide 31 on the accompanying documentation for reference materials became ISO 33401. ISO Guide 33 that provides guidance for the users of reference materials became ISO 33403, and ISO Guide 35 that covers the approaches used for the value assignment of property values was transformed into ISO 33405. Finally, the committee undertook a process to convert ISO Guide 80 into a technical report (ISO/TR 33402) for the preparation of reference materials.
