摘要

Following multimodal therapy or during palliative treatment, patients with colorectal cancer often suffer from distinct physical sequelae. These comprise mainly gastrointestinal symptoms but also fatigue, polyneuropathy, or cognitive dysfunction. Not only is active participation in social and working life hindered, but in many cases it often also results in psychosocial challenges and social stress. Rehabilitation is considered the first step back into normal everyday life—virtually an initial spark. The therapy program is oriented to dysfunctional impairment, resources, and performance level of each individual. Moreover rehabilitation is an ideal timepoint to address lifestyle changes—a teachable moment. During rehabilitation, supportive psychoeducative seminars for losing weight, nicotine cessation, or lectures like learning relaxation techniques are offered. In psycho-oncological groups or individual sessions, strategies for coping with anxieties or the disease and situation are provided. Social counselling helps with return to work issues like professional reintegration, participation in working life, or set up a compatible workplace and also helps to arrange assistance in the event of financial distress and during aftercare.
