<p>There are still deficits in palliative care with regard to the social isolation and social reintegration of palliative patients. In addition, the problems of family members providing care must not be ignored. The day hospice care model, which is still quite new in Germany, could counteract these problems, but it requires certain conditions (including in terms of personnel, structure and content). There is currently no standardized certification for day hospices in Germany. Although initial recommendations already exist, further scientific studies and support programs for the development and empirical values of day hospices are necessary.</p>
