<p>In Austria, all International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-classified mental disorders with clinical significance qualify for funded treatment, whereas non-disease problems and Z‑codes are excluded. This paper maps ICD-10 F‑categories with respect to indication setting and entitlement to benefits, clarifies the distinction from life problems, and summarizes payer requirements (early medical confirmation; authorization from session 11&#xa0;onward). Typical borderline cases (e.g., burnout [Z73.0] vs. adjustment disorder [F43]) are discussed. We outline practical steps for first contact, diagnostic documentation, and claims procedures, and highlight specifics for, among others, child/adolescent, substance-related, and psychotic conditions. The aim is to support clear indication decisions and consistent documentation within the Austrian health-insurance system.</p>
