Effect of initial stress and inhomogeneity on the Love wave propagation in an inhomogeneous composite structure
摘要
The purpose of the present paper is to discuss Love wave transmission on an inhomogeneous composite medium to illustrate the influence of inhomogeneity and pre-stresses on the velocity of the wave. The present model has been composed of a homogeneous elastic medium bounded by initially stressed inhomogeneous half-spaces with linearly varying properties in rigidity and density. The equations of coupled fields have been solved analytically with the help of Whittaker’s equation. The dispersion relation of the stated problem is secured by using the continuity assumptions. In order to compute phase velocity, mathematical data for composed half-spaces and layers have been used. These analytical studies on Love waves yield three main results: (1) The phase velocity decreases with increasing wave number. (2) The ascending of initial stresses related to lower and upper half-spaces on the composite enhances the wave velocity. (3) Also, phase velocity accelerates rapidly with ascending values of rigidity heterogeneity parameter.
