<p>Assessment of spatio-temporal trend and yield of hydrological parameters of river is vital for water resources management. The contributing factors behind the trend as well as increased and decreased yield are also important to address. In this study, the short-term and long-term trends in streamflow and suspended sediment load of six sub basins of Godavari basin is assessed from 1969 to 2019 using Mann-Kendall (MK) test and Innovative trend analysis technique (ITA). The streamflow and suspended sediment data was obtained from Central Water Commission of India. The water and sediment yield of six sub basins of Godavari basin is assessed at decadal time scale. The land use and land cover (LULC) changes at the catchment area is correlated with short-term and long-term trend of streamflow and suspended sediment load. The monotonic decreasing trend in streamflow is observed for Indravati basin and Lower Godavari basin from 1980 to 2009. While monotonic decreasing trend in the suspended sediment load is observed only for one sub basin i.e., Wardha basin. The suspended sediment yield of all six-sub basin is decreased for the from 1980 to 2010. The LULC changes were assessed for year 1989, 1999, 2009 and 2019. For LULC analysis imagery data was procured from USGS earth explorer website. The images were analyzed using open-source QGIS 3.14 software. The substantial increase in agriculture, forest and built-up area is detected. The sediment yield of the Godavari basin decreased from 2.92 tonnes/km<sup>2</sup>/day to 1.31 tonnes/km<sup>2</sup>/day. The Godavari basin is reported 55% reduction in sediment yield due to reduction in forest cover, increase in planned agricultural area and constant increase in water bodies by -7.2%, 9.6% and 1% respectively. The study concludes that trend and variations in hydrological parameters of Godavari basin are closely associated with the LULC change.</p>
