„Zu klein“ – wann abklären, wie erklären?
摘要
Growth and height remain a perennial concern in the care of children and adolescents. While laboratory values represent valuable screening parameters for many disorders, growth curves play this role in helping physicians determine whether referral to a specialized outpatient clinic is necessary in growth disorders. Growth disorders are rare diseases; only some growth disorders can be treated, while all growth disorders require multidisciplinary, specialized care. This article highlights interfaces within the healthcare system in Austria that significantly contribute to the rapid and resource-efficient diagnosis and treatment of growth disorders, while also adequately considering psychosocial aspects of normal variants.
