摘要

Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RLP) is a chronic disease caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection type 6, 11. Inspiratoric stridor in early childhood could give an indication of RLP and if diagnosis is confirmed, paediatricians and otorhinolaryngologists are challenged to develop a therapy strategy. It is very rare in children but the earlier the onset, the more aggressive. For affected patients, it means a lifetime of relapses and frequent surgical HNO treatments. Therapy regimens with virostatic drugs and monoclonal antibodies have not brought the desired success (freedom from recurrence, cure). Experimental use of DNA vaccination as a kind of immunotherapy and programmed cell death protein inhibitors will show its effectiveness in future. We therefore support the development of new vaccination regimen for HPV vaccination. To protect the newborn, maternal vaccination during the last trimester similar to RSV vaccination could be successful. Early vaccination of HPV in preschool children could perhaps prevent this harmful disease.
