Optical fiber pH sensor with multi-wedge tip: design and performance evaluations
摘要
An optical fiber fluorescent sensor based on nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) was developed. The sensor exhibits excellent performance due to the distinct design of the fiber tip. The multiple wedge-shaped (MWS) structure on the fiber tip etched by femtosecond laser enhances the interaction of the sensing probe with the external environment. The N-CDs embedded in the hydrogel film coating the fiber tip exhibit pH-dependent fluorescence characteristics, demonstrating a gradual decrease in emission intensity with increasing pH. The sensor exhibits an excellent linear response (R²=0.9945) across a broad pH range from 3.08 to 12.04. The sensor features a lightweight design with a slender probe, demonstrating practical utility and reliable performance through successful pH measurements in commercial beverages.
