Background <p>Pain is the major concern of human kind since our beginning, and it has been the object of ubiquitous efforts to understand and control it. To reliving and prevent the pain sensation during surgeries, anaesthesia is widely used. It also reliving postoperative analgesia and improves the quality of life of patient as result in fast recovery and hence reduction in the medication cost for treatment. Current study is to compare the analgesic effect of dexmedetomidine and magnesium sulphate as adjuvants to bupivacaine and lignocaine for adductor canal block for postoperative analgesia in Total Knee Replacement patients.</p> Results <p>We collected 50 cases prospectively, as per criteria of American society of Anaesthesiology I &amp; American Society of Anaesthesiology II both men and women undergoing lower limb surgeries Total Knee Replacement over a period of 3&#xa0;months in the department of anaesthesiology, collecting informed consent form, patients randomly allocated to one of the two groups—Group A &amp; Group B.</p> Conclusion <p>Onset of block, duration of block was compared in two groups along with vital parameters. We found that administration of bupivacaine with dexmedetomidine shows rapid onset of action &amp; prolonged duration of action when compared to the patients treated with bupivacaine with magnesium sulphate. Both the combinations show similar haemodynamic stability however slight variations were observed.</p>

Background
