<p>Kühnemann et al. (<CitationRef CitationID="CR2">2024</CitationRef>, Int J Earth Sci. doi.org/10.1007/s00531-024-02475-x) published a dataset on the stratigraphy, composition and metamorphic mineral ages from Neoproterozoic greywackes and related siliciclastic metasediments of the Cadomian basement of the Saxothuringian Zone. This study provides valuable new data, but aside of this, authors made some speculative assumptions of age constrains of several hitherto Ediacaran-aged rock units, which are worth to be discussed. Our comment reflects (i) the stratigraphic classification of the Clanzschwitz and Weesenstein Groups, (ii) part of the monazite ages performed via EPMA Th-U-Pb, (iii) the nature of the Weesenstein Tillite Member, and (iv) part of the lithological description.</p>

(2024, Int J Earth Sci. doi.org/10.1007/s00531-024-02475-x) published a dataset on the stratigraphy, composition and metamorphic mineral ages from Neoproterozoic greywackes and related siliciclastic metasediments of the Cadomian basement of the Saxothuringian Zone.
