RekoTi – Ressourcenplan kommunaler Tiefbau

The RekoTi project developed a resource plan for municipal civil engineering that helps local authorities identify and exploit resource potential in bridges, sewerage systems and traffic areas. To this end, methods for determining anthropogenic material stocks were developed and applied in the example municipality of Münster. Bridges were classified into representative types with formulas for mass estimation, while construction databases were created for sewer systems and traffic areas, enabling mass calculations based on a few attributes. This will allow municipal material flows to be balanced and material flow management to be established in the future. In addition to materials, alternative construction methods and processes were also investigated. A test section with low-temperature asphalt and asphalt granulate was created in Münster to demonstrate the potential savings in primary raw materials and energy requirements. The results confirmed that the construction quality complied with regulatory requirements. In addition, the project examined how road maintenance management systems could be expanded to include ecological aspects in order to enable more sustainable decisions. For bridges, rapid construction methods such as reinforced earth or precast constructions were analysed, and for sewerage systems, the liquid soil method was evaluated. This made it possible to identify resource-saving alternatives with applicability criteria and savings potential. The digital RekoTi toolbox, based on QGIS, supports local authorities in infrastructure management through GIS-based material recording, hotspot identification and integration of external data sources. All project results were published in a digital wiki guide so that local authorities can apply the findings to their own situations.
