Geologie für die Energiewende:
摘要
The geosciences are at the heart of societal transformation and make essential contributions to achieving all global Sustainable Development Goals. The Chair of Energy Geosciences at Montanuniversität Leoben conducts research on numerous key aspects of the energy transition. The main research areas include i) the development of traditional and new geoenergy resources (e.g., natural hydrogen, geothermal energy), ii) the development of geological storage methods for new energy carriers (e.g., long-term safety of hydrogen storage facilities, heat storage in aquifers), iii) the permanent sequestration of CO2 (geological potential analyses, site evaluations, and barrier rock investigations), as well as iv) research into environmental impacts and the reconstruction of the paleoclimate using organic-geochemical data. Strong ties to the materials sciences enable cutting-edge geo-method development (“nanogeology”).
