摘要

In mining there is the strive to have as few miners as possible in exposed areas.

Since the 1990s teleoperation has been applied to underground mining with success. This enables the remote operation of mobile mining machines.

To achieve a manless underground operation is still a goal for the future as, for installation and deinstallation, service and repair as well as solving unplanned problems the miner is still needed.

In 2025 there are teleoperation solutions for most of the mobile mining equipment. This increases safety and productivity as operations can continue remotely supervised for instance during shift change.

For service and repair, we still need human operators on site. Until repair robots can fulfil these tasks, most likely by using teleoperation too, it will take some time.
