Background <p>In this article, the SAGES Colorectal Task Force presents focused summaries of 10 selected articles on the use of intracorporeal anastomosis in minimally invasive (MIS) right colectomy. As part of the SAGES Masters Program, the Colorectal Pathway is designed to deliver didactic content for the practicing surgeon relating to an anchoring procedure MIS right colectomy, MIS left/sigmoid colectomy, and intracorporeal anastomosis during MIS ileocecal or right colon resection) representing 3 levels of performance (competency, proficiency, and mastery).</p> Methods <p>A comprehensive literature search was performed using PubMed, and the selected articles were reviewed and ranked by the SAGES Colorectal Task Force and invited subject experts. The top 10 ranked articles were then summarized, emphasizing their relevance to the field, findings, strengths and limitations, and conclusions.</p> Results <p>The articles selected for the intracorporeal anastomosis anchoring procedure include articles describing the surgical technique, and articles assessing short- and long-term clinical outcomes of intracorporeal anastomosis.</p>

Background
