<p>The article discusses existential waiting that is accompanied by the feeling of living one’s life on standby. In doing so, the author seeks to illuminate this mode of existence through the concepts of non-relation and blocked transition elaborated in the article, and links these concepts to reflections on dissociative states, the notion of psychic death, and unaliveness. In addition, it is suggested that the therapeutic situation is characterized by being held within the waiting of the other.</p>
