<p>The topic of migration has accompanied psychoanalysis since its inception, yet it took surprisingly long for psychoanalysts to theoretically address migration and its related topics. My work provides a&#xa0;chronological overview of the development of psychoanalytic migration theories. Central to these theories is the concept of identity, which is seen as dynamic and adaptable. Migration substantially impacts identity formation and can lead to psychological problems. Transcultural treatment faces limitations when cultural projections distort the view of the patient and the symptoms are misunderstood. Psychoanalytic migration theories not only provide valuable insights for the clinical practice but also serve as a&#xa0;foundation for understanding broader societal transformation processes.</p>
