Purpose <p>To understand if age interferes with the perception of the application of AI in Healthcare.</p> Methods <p>A cross-sectional study was carried out using an anonymous, self-completed online questionnaire answered by 770 participants. Patients were divided into five generations according to age: Generation Z (18–25 years), Generation Y or Millennials (26–41 years), Generation X (42–57 years), Baby Boomers (58–67 years) and Silent Generation (&gt; 67 years).</p> Results <p>Individuals over 67 years of age (Silent Generation) and individuals under 26 years of age (Generation Z) presented lowest preference towards AI as a healthcare provider. This was statistically significant considering: 1 - assessment of health monitoring (<i>p</i> = 0.02), 2 - chronic disease monitoring (<i>p</i> = 0.02) and 3 - performing low/no-life-threatening surgery (<i>p</i> = 0.003). The age group with the hightest preference towards AI as a healthcare provider ​​were individuals aged between 26 and 41 years (Millennials).</p> Conclusion <p>Our findings suggest that there are significant differences in the perception of Artificial Intelligence application depending on the age group.</p>
