Associations between lifestyle, clinical factors, phenotypes and symptoms of rosacea: a cross-sectional case–control study
摘要
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder, associated with multiple clinical and lifestyle-related factors. However, phenotype- and symptom-specific associations within a single population remain incompletely characterized. We conducted a cross-sectional case-control study among 535 Chinese patients diagnosed with rosacea, and 351 control participants without diagnosed dermatologic diseases. Demographic characteristics, lifestyle behaviors, skincare habits, family history and comorbidities were compared, and associations with rosacea and its phenotypes and symptoms were analyzed by logistic regression models. In this cross-sectional analysis, age between 25 and 44 years, female sex, skincare behaviors, positive family history of rosacea, and comorbidities were generally associated with the presence and clinical manifestations of rosacea. Our study sheds light on heterogeneous associations between factors and rosacea, and the strength and direction of associations varied across different phenotypes and symptoms. These findings may help inform hypothesis generation for future studies.
