摘要

Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols are based on multimodal, evidence-based interventions that are implemented before, during and after surgery by an interdisciplinary and interprofessional team with the aim of minimizing morbidity and mortality. The ERAS protocol is centered on patients who are actively involved in the preoperative preparation and perioperative measures. The result of this involvement can lead to an improvement in the quality of life and treatment satisfaction as well as reduce costs. In the context of cardiac surgery ERAS necessitates the adaptation of conventional working methods and procedures, the periodic review of the evidence-based guidelines and the coordination of a specialized ERAS team. A successful implementation of ERAS requires continuous process monitoring, outcome analyses and an implementation of tailored measures across all phases of the ERAS concept.
