<p>Endovascular treatment of the thoracic aorta is a&#xa0;very important component of the treatment of patients with aortic pathologies. Thanks to the possibilities for catheter technical elimination of the underlying disease by means of an endoprosthesis, the invasiveness of the treatment has been reduced and thus the spectrum of treatment options is expanded; however, every type of endovascular treatment requires a&#xa0;dedicated and rigorous follow-up program. This is because complications, such as new endoleaks, migration of the prosthesis or new distal stent-induced entries can occur during the course of the procedure. In addition to the new treatment options, the endovascular treatment of the aorta established a&#xa0;new terminology as well as a&#xa0;division of the organ into 11&#xa0;segments. This article describes the various options for treatment of the thoracic aorta as well as some technical features of the procedure.</p>

Endovascular treatment of the thoracic aorta is a very important component of the treatment of patients with aortic pathologies. Thanks to the possibilities for catheter technical elimination of the underlying disease by means of an endoprosthesis, the invasiveness of the treatment has been reduced and thus the spectrum of treatment options is expanded; however, every type of endovascular treatment requires a dedicated and rigorous follow-up program. This is because complications, such as new endoleaks, migration of the prosthesis or new distal stent-induced entries can occur during the course of the procedure. In addition to the new treatment options, the endovascular treatment of the aorta established a new terminology as well as a division of the organ into 11 segments. This article describes the various options for treatment of the thoracic aorta as well as some technical features of the procedure.
