<p>Visual impairments have extensive effects on the quality of life of those affected. At the only German clinic specializing in inpatient ophthalmological rehabilitation, a&#xa0;multiprofessional team provides medical rehabilitation for visually impaired people under ophthalmological guidance, with the program tailored to the individual needs of each patient. The rehabilitation concept is based on Social Act IV (SGB&#xa0;IV) §&#xa0;42 and current case law and is therefore holistic, multimodal and interdisciplinary. The focus is on the impairment of visual functions, the impact on personal activity and participation in a&#xa0;social and professional context. In addition to a close medical care, the options of the rehabilitation program encompass visual aid provision, low-vision counselling, specific visual, balance and mobility training, workplace adjustments and psychological and sociolegal support. The financial coverage and application process for ophthalmological rehabilitation is determined by the individual’s insurance status and the nature of their rehabilitation needs.</p>
