<p>Reactive oxygen species (ROS), as signaling molecules, can regulate the growth and development process of plants. It is necessary for plants to the proper concentration of ROS, and large quantities of accumulated ROS caused by stress will inhibit the growth and development and even kill plants. In this review, the research progress of ROS production, clearance and regulatory mechanisms in plants under various stress were reviewed, with emphasis on the regulatory mechanisms of ROS clearance mediated by plant hormones, and further prospects for the research on ROS metabolism and regulatory mechanisms were proposed.</p>
