<p>NiO/Ni nanocomposites were prepared using four different methods to evaluate the effect of the preparation method on the properties of the obtained powder. All samples were characterised using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), High-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM), and UV-visible spectroscopy. All samples crystallized in cubic symmetry. The results revealed that the band gaps were found to be 3.68&#xa0;eV, 3.72&#xa0;eV, 3.70&#xa0;eV, 3.70&#xa0;eV, and 3.72&#xa0;eV, respectively. The obtained nanoparticles showed ferromagnetic behaviour, which is not observed in NiO previously prepared by other researchers. This unexpected behaviour is attributed to the co-presence of two phases.</p> Graphical Abstract <p></p>
