Qualitative und quantitative Magnetresonanztomographie des Kiefergelenks
摘要
Interventions on the stomatognathic system—whether prosthetic rehabilitation, orthodontic or oral-surgical adjustments, or any form of bite elevation—are based on assumptions regarding the position of the disc and condyle as well as the internal structures, which cannot be reliably determined using digital volume tomography (DVT), as well as clinical instrumental analysis and joint-related registration procedures.
Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) of the temporomandibular joints bridges this gap and is the only modality that combines qualitative—i.e., purely structural—and quantitative, measurable information about the temporomandibular joint in a radiation-free and freely repeatable examination procedure. The following article classifies both procedures and simultaneously highlights the therapeutic and forensic implications.
