Manuelle Medizin und Sport
摘要
The most common injuries in athletes are often preceded by dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system. The early detection of such dysfunctions is a core aspect of manual medicine and manual therapy. The application of appropriate manual medical techniques, following a specific diagnosis of the musculoskeletal system, can reduce pain and improve functional deficits in athletes. Studies demonstrate level 1/2 evidence for short-term pain reduction and improved mobility in athletes through manual interventions. Sports medicine is no longer only medicine for athletes, but has increasingly become movement medicine for patients. Therefore, sports physicians should possess both diagnostic and therapeutic expertise in manual medicine.
