Electrospun polystyrene fibres: influence of polymer concentration on the oil sorption behaviour
摘要
This research work is focused on the development of electrospun polystyrene fibres at varying polymer concentration (5–20% w/v) and their influence on the oil sorption behaviour. Contact angle measurements reveal the hydrophobic nature of the fibres. The hydrophobicity increases as the surface roughness increases. Polystyrene fibres show effectiveness towards motor and diesel oils sorption. A ~ 199% and ~ 177% increase in the maximum oil sorption capacity is observed for 15% (w/v) polystyrene compared to 20% (w/v) polystyrene respectively.
