Ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone and D,L-lactide catalyzed by a low toxic and eco-friendly titanium salicylate catalyst
摘要
The need for titanium compounds for homogeneous catalysis is gradually increasing due to their non-toxic properties and catalytic activity. In this study, a new titanium (IV) salicylate complex was obtained capable of catalyzing the polymerization of ε-caprolactone and D,L–lactide with benzyl alcohol as co-initiator. The catalyst was investigated by different methods like MALDI, NMR-spectroscopy and XRD. This new titanium complex has proven to be an effective catalyst for ROP reactions at 120 °C. This catalyst has shown significant efficiency due to the high molecular weight of the resulting polymer (Mw ~ 80,000) and a narrow dispersity (Mw/Mn < 1.3).
