Advancements in polymeric nanoparticles reinforced with metallic nanoparticles: synthesis techniques, properties enhancements, and emerging functionalities

Polymeric nanocomposites have received substantial interest in recent years because of their diverse potential applications in various fields such as electronics, agriculture, aerospace, automotive, and health care due to their excellent mechanical, electrical, thermal, and barrier properties. However, there is a lack of a comprehensive review focusing on the synthesis methods, properties, and applications of polymeric nanocomposites reinforced with metallic nanoparticles. Hence, this review paper provides a comprehensive understanding of synthesis methods, properties, and emerging applications of these nanocomposites reinforced with metallic nanoparticles. The motivation for this review stems from the growing interest in developing high-performance nanocomposites with tailored properties and enhanced functionality. This paper further addresses the need for a consolidated resource that summarizes the latest developments and highlights future directions in the field of polymeric nanocomposites reinforced with metallic nanoparticles. Finally, the paper concluded the impact of metallic nanoparticles on nanocomposites' properties and their potential applications in sensors, energy storage devices, electromagnetic interference shielding, and biomedical fields. We highlighted the advantages and challenges of these applications and provided a comprehensive understanding of synthesis methods, properties, and emerging applications. This review will further serve as a valuable resource for researchers, engineers, and industry professionals interested in the development and utilization of polymeric nanocomposites reinforced with metallic nanoparticles.
