<p>A Gram-stain-negative, obligately aerobic, motile by a single flagellum, ovoid-shaped gammaproteobacterium, designated KMU-193<sup>T</sup>, was isolated from coastal seawater in the Republic of Korea and analyzed using a polyphasic method. Growth occurred at 15–40&#xa0;°C (optimum, 25&#xa0;°C), at pH 5.5–8.0 (optimum, 7.5), and at 0–3.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1.0%). Strain KMU-193<sup>T</sup> was placed in the same clade as <i>Motilimonas eburnea</i> YH69<sup>T</sup>, <i>Motilimonas cestriensis</i> MKS20<sup>T</sup>, and <i>Motilimonas pumila</i> PLHSC7-2<sup>T</sup> based upon phylogenetic assessment of 16S rRNA gene sequences, with similarities ranging from 96.9 to 97.6%. The main (&gt; 10%)&#xa0;fatty acids were composed of summed feature 3 (comprising C<sub>16:1</sub> <i>ω</i>6<i>c</i> and/or C<sub>16:1</sub> <i>ω</i>7<i>c</i>) and C<sub>16:0</sub>. The polar lipids comprised phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, an unidentified aminolipid, and four unidentified lipids. The predominant respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-8. Strain KMU-193<sup>T</sup> had a 4.2&#xa0;Mb genome with a 45.0% G + C content. The ANI and <i>d</i>DDH values between strain KMU-193<sup>T</sup> and species of the genus <i>Motilimonas</i> were 72.0–81.2% and 20.3–23.7%, respectively. The genome of the strain KMU-193<sup>T</sup> had 9 putative biosynthetic gene clusters for substances with high industrial application potential, such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), ectoine, and schizokinen. Genes coding for enzymes with various physiological activity, including metallophosphoesterase, riboflavin synthase, and cystathionine gamma-synthase, were also found. According to the differential phenotypic, phylogenetic, genomic, phylogenomic, and chemotaxonomic characteristics analyzed, the strain KMU-193<sup>T</sup> represents a new species of the genus <i>Motilimonas</i>, for which the name <i>Motilimonas thetidivivens</i> sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is KMU-193<sup>T</sup> (= KCCM 90597<sup>T</sup> = NBRC 117089<sup>T</sup>).</p>
