Liver tumors associated with congenital portosystemic shunts – report of 3 cases and literature review
摘要
Congenital portosystemic shunts are rare and have high association with the development of focal liver lesions. Distinguishing between benign and malignant hepatic tumors in these patients can be difficult, both via imaging and histopathology. Here, we present a pictorial essay exhibiting three cases of focal liver lesions that were identified in patients with congenital portosystemic shunts. Each patient had multiple atypical hypervascular liver tumors, with tissue sampling ultimately establishing the final diagnosis. We report on the importance of considering underlying hepatic vascular anomalies in making accurate radiologic and histopathologic diagnoses.
