A Google trends analysis of public interest in non- surgical rhinoplasty
摘要
Non-surgical rhinoplasty (NSR) has gained increasing popularity as a minimally invasive alternative to surgical rhinoplasty. This trend is largely driven by social media influence, and demand for procedures with reduced downtime and lower cost. However, there is limited research quantifying public interest and analysing terminology used to describe NSR. This study aims to assess global public interest in non-surgical rhinoplasty by analysing Google Trends data from July 2018 to July 2025, while evaluating geographical variation and related search behaviour.
MethodsGoogle Trends was used to analyse relative search volumes (RSV) for common NSR-related terms. Interest over time, geographical distribution, and related queries were extracted.
ResultsInterest in NSR peaked between 2019 and 2021, and remained elevated for certain terms such as “nose filler”. Colloquial terms consistently outperformed their medical counterparts in search popularity, suggesting greater public engagement than professional. Related queries predominantly focused on cost and accessibility, with minimal reference to safety or complications.
ConclusionsThe surge in public interest—particularly in colloquial terminology—emphasizes the importance of public education on NSR risks and limitations. While generally being safe and successful at achieving patient satisfaction, due to its potential risks and growing global demand it is essential that only practitioners with verified training and competence should be permitted to perform such procedures.
