Enhancing air conditioner efficiency: comparative study of microchannel and Finned-Tube condensers
摘要
Improving the efficiency of air-conditioning systems is vital for mitigating their environmental impacts and advancing sustainable development. This study compares the influence of a finned-tube condenser and a microchannel condenser of the same face area on the performance of a room air conditioner experimentally and numerically, highlighting their influence on system performance. The results demonstrated that the microchannel condenser achieved an increase of more than a 30% in the coefficient of performance. Additionally, the compact design of the microchannel condenser led to a 38% weight reduction, contributing to a lower material usage and improved system integration. The experimental setup involved a 2TR split air-conditioning system, with measurements taken under varying conditions. Numerical simulations using ANSYS Fluent validated the experimental findings and showed strong agreement in the temperature distribution and heat transfer characteristics. The results confirm that microchannel condensers not only enhance thermal performance, but also promote lower energy consumption and reduced refrigerant charge, supporting global efforts towards greener HVAC solutions. These findings underscore the potential of microchannel condensers as efficient alternatives to conventional finned-tube designs. Their superior performance, compact structure, and environmental benefits make them a promising solution for next-generation energy-efficient air-conditioning systems.
