Dysregulation of ABCA12 function leads to barrier breakdown and leaves the tissue vulnerable to damage, inflammation, of stress-associated illnesses such as eczema, atopic dermatitis, and psoriasis is additionally enhanced by environmental or psychological stress. ABCA12 in the context plays an important role in modulating the stress resistance. Furthermore, beyond lipid transport functions, recent evidence indicates that ABCA12 may also influence cellular stress responses like inflammation, oxidative stress, and tissue repair and thereby contribute to the establishment of a general stress. On the functional basis, ABCA12 offers promising therapeutic possibility for the repair of stress disorders. It may also be a key biomarker for determining the severity of the disease and also for responding to therapy. The function of ABCA12 in lipid transport and cell stress resistance must be interpreted suitably so that specific therapies for disorders due to impairment in lipid transport can be established. This is a review that covers the molecular understanding of ABCA12 in lipid transport and how it can lead to resistance of cells against stress. ABCA12 therapeutic potential and utilization as a stress-related disease biomarker is also highlighted in this paper.</p>
