摘要

Efficient operation of the power system relies heavily on optimizing available transfer capability (ATC) to meet the increasing demand for electricity and accommodate renewable energy sources. The increasing demand for efficient and reliable power transmission, coupled with the integration of renewable energy sources, presents challenges such as voltage instability and power quality issues. Available Transfer Capability is constrained by transmission line limits, voltage thresholds, and the operational limitations of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices. This study proposes an optimized approach using the dung beetle optimization (DBO) algorithm to determine the optimal placement and parameters of thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC) and Static Var Compensator (SVC) devices. The optimization is integrated into the Modified Repeated Alternating Current Power Flow (MRACPF) method to enhance ATC and voltage stability while minimizing power losses. The methodology is tested on the IEEE 30-bus system, demonstrating superior performance over other metaheuristic techniques. Results indicate that TCSC improves ATC by 149.485 MW (13.64%), while SVC enhances it by 87.183 MW (7.93%) as compared to base case, highlighting the effectiveness of the proposed approach in improving power system performance. The results show that DBO effectively balances exploration and exploitation, yielding superior solutions with faster convergence.
