SARS-CoV-2- und Rotavirus-Infektionen sind keine Differentialdiagnosen des Schütteltraumas
摘要
The diagnosis of abusive head trauma (AHT) by shaking requires the exclusion of relevant differential diagnoses. A private pediatric expert repeatedly cited SARS-CoV‑2 infections and rotavirus infections as the cause of subdural hematoma/hygroma (SDH/SDHy) and retinal hemorrhages (RB).
ObjectiveThis article examines SARS-CoV‑2 infections, the consequences of intrauterine SARS-CoV‑2 infections as well as rotavirus infections as possible differential diagnoses of AHT by shaking.
Material and methodsA selective literature search was conducted with particular attention to the publications cited in the private expert reports.
ResultsA causal relationship or association between SARS-CoV‑2 infections or rotavirus infections and the occurrence of SDH/SDHy or RB was not found.
ConclusionIntrauterine or existing SARS-CoV‑2 infections or rotavirus infections do not constitute valid differential diagnoses of AHT by shaking.
