Tödliche Ketoazidose als Erstsymptom eines unbekannten Diabetes
摘要
The death of a 10-year-old girl is reported. She was found dead after 2 days of nausea, loss of appetite and diarrhea. The cause of death was a deep aspiration of stomach contents, resulting from a hyperglycemic coma. Neither the girl, her younger brother, nor her parents had a history of diabetes mellitus. Subsequently, the parents reported that their daughter had been experiencing increased thirst for several weeks; however, they viewed this as a positive sign, believing that “drinking is healthy.” Furthermore, a pinworm infection was found, in this specific case more as an incidental finding of a harmless intestinal parasitosis.
