<p>Malrotation of the gut is a&#xa0;rare congenital anomaly that is usually clinically manifested in the neonatal period and occasionally at a&#xa0;later stage with signs of intestinal obstruction. Deaths associated with Ladd’s bands have not yet been described in the literature. We present the case of a&#xa0;5-year-old boy who died of an intestinal ileus due to incarceration of a&#xa0;small bowel loop under a&#xa0;Ladd’s band. The treatment of choice, including surgical division of the band, was not performed mainly due to a&#xa0;misjudgement by the paramedics.</p>
