<p>To promote the application of digital twin technology in the field of smart manufacturing and to enhance equipment production efficiency, technical levels, and product quality, this paper provides a comprehensive review of digital twin modeling technology and its applications in smart manufacturing equipment, addressing the issues present in existing publicly available works. The role of digital twin technology in smart manufacturing is investigated, followed by an analysis of its modeling and application limitations and challenges. Subsequently, a general framework for digital twin modeling in smart manufacturing equipment is proposed, outlining the implementation process of digital twin models in design, production, commissioning, and maintenance stages, providing a practical pathway for the rapid application of digital twin technology in smart manufacturing. Finally, the future development directions of digital twin technology for smart manufacturing equipment are discussed.&#xa0;</p>
